Pakistani Students Clean Sweep the Oxford Big Read Competition!
Pakistani students outshined at the 5th Oxford Big Read (OBR) competition which was launched on 6 September 2019. The OBR is a splendid opportunity to engage young students in reading & writing activities. The national winners were announced on 3 March 2020 and Asia winners on 31 July 2020. We are very proud to announce that one of our Generians, Zaid Faisal, was declared the Asian winner (Level 3) at the 5th OBR Competition. Well done, Zaid!
The Thrilling Competition
At OBR Level I, students were expected to design a new jacket for the book they read, including the title, and were to write in two sentences about the book. At Level II, the students proceed to write something interesting about the book, and at Level III students were expected to write a critical review of the book. The hundreds of entries were judged by an independent jury who selected the National winners who subsequently competed at the Asia Education Division against their top entries. The International Jury Members then selected the Asia winners.

Generian Eshal Rehan from Grade II was the 1st Runner up at the National (Level 1). Roshane Mehnaz from Grade VI and Maria Bukhari from Grade IX were the Regional Finalists at the Nationals from Level 2 and 3, respectively. As Generation’s Schools and as Pakistanis, we feel immensely proud of their accomplishments. This was the first time in the history of the Oxford Book Read Competition that Pakistani students triumphed at all three levels!
With aspirations such as these, we look forward to a bright and prosperous future of Pakistan, insha’Allah. We believe that children are the future of our Nation, and
“A child who reads will one day be an adult who thinks.”
