Introducing GS Online Learning for O & A Levels
Dear Parents,
Assalamu alaikum,
Introducing GS Online Learning for O & A Levels
Guidelines for Students and Parents
The ongoing school closure has unfortunately been highly disruptive for student learning. We hope and pray that, insha’allah, the situation will normalize soon. In the meantime, however, students must utilize their time at home effectively, especially in preparation for their mock and final Cambridge examinations.
To facilitate this, the School has made arrangements to set up an online learning portal for O & A Level students, based on the technology provided by Google Classrooms. Teachers will be uploading video lessons, related resources, assignments and quizzes onto the relevant groups in Google Classrooms. Students will be required to spend time on these lessons and quizzes every weekday: they will be expected to responsibly engage with the content, ask questions where needed, complete assignments and quizzes as per the instructions and deadlines given by their teachers.
How to access GS Online Learning
Hardware & Connectivity: Students and parents are to please ensure that students have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with a reliable internet connection.
GS Online ID: Just like GS IDs and SmartCards are required for students to access the school facilities, students are being assigned GS Online IDs and passwords. These will be required for them to access the online learning portal on Google Classrooms. You will be receiving these credentials specific to your child via SMS shortly.
Joining relevant Classes on Google Classrooms: You will receive a second SMS with “classroom codes” to join the relevant Google Classroom. The Google Classroom app can also be downloaded free of cost on smartphones or tablets through Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Scheduling: A schedule of daily classes will be posted. All students must attend the online classes according to the schedule. The first formal classes are scheduled for Thursday, 5th March, insha’allah. Please ensure 0300.0220640 is saved as a contact on your devices to receive timely updates.
Queries & Troubleshooting: In case of any queries, please feel free to message via WhatsApp on the “Online Learning Helpdesk” at 0300.0220632.
Happy learning!
