Gen Shajar Annual Athletic Sports Day ’23
On Your Marks!

GO!
These are the battle cries that herald the Middle Section to arms as they gear up for the most awaited competition of the year, the ‘Gen Shajar Annual Athletic Sports Day’. The 8th of December 2023 saw the Middle Section engaged in unparalleled displays of hard work, determination, dedication, and most importantly: sportsmanship, all with the end in mind of winning the coveted sports trophy for their house.
The event began with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran. As the National Anthem awoke energy and pride, the students watched the ‘Torch Bearing’ ceremony and were reminded to keep ablaze the Mishal-ul-Ilm in their hearts and minds.
The students of Grades VIII and IX sacrificed their blood, sweat, tears, and hopes to put on an awe-striking show of unity, win-win thinking, and leadership in the form of a disciplined and organized March Past. It was led by the Prefect Body, which worked diligently to ensure the best performance from their house.
The March Past was succeeded by a solemn oath-taking in which the prefect body vowed on behalf of their house to uphold the rules and conduct of true sportsmen. As the proud parents clapped for the leaving march past contingents, the students of Grade VII entered the field. They presented a P.E display unmatched in its perfect execution and the hard work that went into organizing such a titanic performance.
The ovation they received did not just acknowledge the efforts of the students but brought to light the guidance and support of the sports team that had trained the Middle Section and motivated them since November. They made THE HOME OF SHAHEENS in coordination with each other.
These displays were followed by the Track and Field events in which the students did not just run for personal glory but for the glory and victory of their house. The races were managed by student leaders who were hard at work with the domestic staff to ensure the smooth progress of the event. The reliable young leaders at the event counter remained focused and on the mark throughout the day. All in all, the sports day of the Middle Section was an unrivaled platform of student empowerment and leadership in which proactive young leaders took charge to ensure the perfection of their event.
The most anticipated Relay Races and Tug of War were the final competitions. Jinnah House dominated the relay races spurred on by unstoppable cheers from their fellow housemates. Iqbal House showcased its superiority and strength of arms in the Tug of War.
The concluding ceremony consisted of a speech from the venerated chief guest Dr. Sulait Fatimi, who was escorted by the unfailing pilots. The students were inspired and star-struck by his hard work and selflessness. The founding principal, Dr. Ghazala Siddiqui, announced the house points as the victors held their breath.
The best athletes were both from Jinnah House, and it emerged triumphant, winning by three hundred points. After a thunderous haka, the winning house ran a victory lap in which they did not boast or gloat but celebrated each other’s victories.
The sports day was concluded by a mellifluous recitation of Dua-e-Noor as the contestants praised and thanked Allah for His blessings and bounties. The essence of the sports day that the Middle Section learned was not just victory or triumph over others but joining hands and working together to win for their house. Go Jinnah! Go Iqbal! Go Syed!
