Dear Generian Families,

Assalamu alaikum,

GenSamar: 35 Years of Impact, Legacy, and Perpetuity
Our 2024–25 School Year in Review

Mubarak on Generation’s School becoming the first Leader in Me Lighthouse School in Pakistan! This prestigious recognition by FranklinCovey USA marks a historic milestone in Generation’s 35-year journey of nurturing minds, hearts, and souls. Building on a legacy rooted in values and excellence, the Lighthouse Certification reflects our unwavering commitment to our vision – A Thinking Institution for Global Leaders.

To officially certify Generation’s as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, Mr. Sean Covey, the global influencer and New York Times Bestselling Author of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, and Leader in Me, visited the School in January 2025. He deeply admired and appreciated the holistic learning culture he witnessed, describing it as ‘remarkable’ and ‘a place where sciences, poetry, art, and religion are seamlessly integrated into meaningful educational experiences.’ Watch his video testimonial here.

We honour and commemorate not just the years passed, but the strengthening of our future legacy.

اپنی دُنیا آپ پیدا کراگر زِندوں میں ہے

As we close this landmark year, I extend heartfelt acknowledgement to each of you – teachers, parents, and students – whose commitment, trust and perseverance have shaped this transformative journey.

 Mabrook, dear Generians!

  • Destination Imagination (DI): DI is a project-based, student-centred programme that teaches them to be innovative problem solvers and creative team players. It is organised by Destination Imagination US. Four Generation’s teams (Grades V–VII) delivered outstanding performances at the national level and qualified for the Global Finals 2025, to be held in the USA.
  • GenFest: The first-of-its-kind collaborative festival was organized and led by College and Senior Section students. The event highlighted student innovation, talent and competitive entrepreneurial spirit, including activities like the Shark Tank and Generation’s Lego League. 36 stalls were set up by our student entrepreneurs – it was heartening indeed to see the students taking charge!
  • 8th Abdul Sattar Edhi Sports Festival: Generation’s hosted its largest sports meet yet, with 800+ students from 30 top schools across Karachi. Referees from several Provincial associations and National federations were part of the grand event.

The Generation’s College Programme – An Update

  • College Infrastructure: With the introduction of The College Hive, College Circle (library redefined), and College Academy (digital classrooms), students now engage in dynamic, digitally enriched learning. Classrooms meaningfully reflect the Shaheen Attributes, inspired by Iqbal’s vision.
  • New College Website: A new digital platform is being launched shortly, insha’allah, sharing the Generation’s College story with the world.
  • The Student-led Greatness Diaries Podcast: Recorded in our very own Broadcast Studio at the College Circle, showcasing student-led conversations with trailblazing figures in science, business, sports, and philanthropy. Catch the episodes on the Generation’s School YouTube channel.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Fahm-e-Namaaz Course: The sessions were held for mothers at the North Campus by the Character Education Foundation.
  • 7 Habits Parent Lighthouse Training: A few of our parents certified by FranklinCovey Education conducted training sessions for Generian families, continuing to align home and School practices. Well done, parents, on creating a positive impact!
  • Guest Speakers: Over the year, alumni, industry experts, and social leaders inspired students with talks and discussions on AI, ethics, purposeful living and so much more. Notable guests included Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa (dignitary from Bahrain), Mr. Sean Covey (President, FranklinCovey Education, USA), and Dr Akbar S Zaidi (Executive Director, IBA).
  • Curriculum Orientation Sessions: Zoom sessions were held by the Starter Section this year, for parents to gain a better understanding of the curriculum that their child is going through.
  • Parent Volunteering: Increased parental participation in student learning excursions, activities, and events such as Sports Days across the School was a great help indeed! Meaningful and creative displays were created by the zealous parents for students, promoting Gen Values. Jazakallah al khayr, parents!
  • Surveys: The Parent Perspective Survey, the Annual Survey, and the Measurable Results Assessment (MRA) have been completed by parents throughout the year providing us with valuable insights that have helped us improve our practices. We sincerely thank all the parents who participated and encourage even greater participation in the coming year.

Learning, Leadership & Growth

  • Discover Yourself: Who Am I? Annual Theme: Encouraged personal reflection and growth for students through student-led PTMs, assemblies, and Leadership Portfolio showcases across the School.
  • Development in Leadership Teams: As part of our ongoing efforts to build leadership capacity and ensure smooth, planned transitions, we have made a few changes in our leadership team. These changes reflect our long-term approach to succession planning and institutional strength. The updated structure in the academic sections is shared below:

Starter and Junior Sections

    • Vice Principal: Ms. Naveen Jehanzeb
    • Headmistress Starters: Ms. Maria Hassan
    • Headmistress Juniors: Ms. Erum Saleem Faruqi

Middle Section

    • Vice Principal: Ms. Adeela Zeeshan
    • Headmistress: Ms. Asma Amin

Senior Section and Generation’s College

    • Vice Principal: Ms. Aaliya Abidi
    • Headmistress O Level: Ms. Rijaa Kaleem
    • Head of College: Ms. Sabeen Tariq

We pray for barakah and success in their leadership roles.

Campus Physical Transformation

  • North Campus: Restructuring-2024 of learning spaces has proven effective for students, teachers, and parents. Further enhancements, including the Audiovisual Centre and Library are underway.
  • South Campus: The relocation of academic sections, starting this session in August 2024, has significantly added to the school efficiency and safety. The development of other resources, including the Gen Theatre, is in progress in the new block adjacent to the Gen College.

Our Concerns

  • Digital Discipline: We urge parents to consistently monitor their children’s screen time and support home learning to provide them with a healthy and successful life, insha’allah.
  • Punctuality and Home-time Management: For the safety of our students and the smooth operation of school routines, all parents must ensure the timely drop-off and pick-up of their children. Please note that the staff will not be available to supervise students beyond school hours.

In Loving Memory

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ  The passing of our Grade I student, M. Ibrahim Hassan, brought profound grief. May Allah grant his family sabr and reunite them in Jannah. Ameen. We also pray for other families who have experienced loss this year. May Allah bring them comfort. Ameen.

Gaza and Our Response

We continue to strengthen our commitment to standing with Palestine through heartfelt du’aa, conscious boycotts, and awareness efforts. Persistence is the key!

Preparing for the New School Year

  • Please ensure that students rejoin promptly on the first day. Plan your vacations accordingly, returning well before the first day of school for the children to be well prepared for the start of the session.
  • We remind all parents to ensure that their children have all the required books and stationery before the school year begins, so that they are fully prepared and ready to start learning from day one.

Please visit our School and College websites regularly for any updates and announcements.

The Generian — GenSamar Edition

Our special 35-year commemorative School Magazine is being prepared for launch at the commencement of the coming session, insha’allah, brought to you by the ardent student-led Magazine Committee.

I wish your family a rejuvenating summer and look forward to another year of growth, compassion, and discovery. May our young Generians serve with compassion, lead with wisdom, and inspire generations to come. Ameen.

پھر ان شاہین بچوں کو بال و پر دے

جوانوں کو مری آہِ سحر دے

May Allah bless us all! May Allah bless Generation’s! May Allah bless Pakistan! Ameen.

Jazakallah al khayr,

Dr Ghazala Siddiqui
